A new International day of recognition has been announced by United Nations chief António Guterres. The “International Day Commemorating the Victims of Acts of Violence Based on Religion and Belief” is a call to end the persecution of religious groups. It comes in response to the recent increase in terrorist attacks across the world, including the Christchurch shootings in New Zealand.
António Guterres states that the UN is, “doing all in our power to prevent such attacks and demanding that those responsible are held accountable’.
