Thank you to the presenters and teachers who attended the North-Metro (Wembley) SS WA Regional Network meeting for Term 3. Here’s a quick summary of the things we got up to.

We unpacked a few of the One World Centre’s Discovery Boxes and explored some food technologies, textiles and musical instruments from around the world.

We found out about the lives of two of our local Perth turtles – the oblong turtle and the western swamp tortoise. They look different, but they have lots in common; most important of all, both these local species are endangered! Kathy from Perth Zoo and Elaine from AAEE WA shared environmental education and citizen science programs where schools can get involved in saving these unique and precious local fauna.

Here’s some links to websites where you can find further information.

The SS WA North Metro Regional Network (Wembley) is coordinated by Rod from the Western Australian Gould League at the Herdsman Lake Wildlife Centre. You can find out about their programs for schools and community here: https://www.wagouldleague.com.au/

I’m looking forward to hearing from other SS WA Regional Network groups. Don’t forget, ALL are welcome (you don’t have to be an educator from a school or organisation in the regional zone).

Caroline.
