This workshop introduces the concepts of culture and cultural responsiveness and provides examples and resources to assist educators in incorporating culturally responsive practice into their own educational settings.
The workshop involves interactive activities that are critically reflective, collaborative and support further learning for participants, enabling them to
- Gain knowledge about and be responsive to different cultural ways of knowing being and doing.
- Develop a deeper understanding of culture and cultural diversity and its role in being, belonging and becoming
- Inspire children’s curiosity, wonder and enjoyment of culture and cultural diversity.
- Assist children to develop a strong sense of identity, agency and belonging and become confident and creative learners who are connected with and contribute to their world.
- Embed Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander perspectives in early years settings
- Collaborate to build inclusive and culturally safe learning spaces
- Implement anti-bias approaches and address racism and support children to take culturally responsive actions in response to unfairness and discrimination
One World Centre will also bring their inspiring collection of global education resources for early childhood educators to view and loan.
