Professional Development
The OWC offers one free Professional Development (PD) session to each school or university when they first become members of the OWC.
The OWC offers PD to teachers and student teachers. There are many ways we can do this.
Some suggestions.
- Workshops for groups of teachers or student teachers. These need to be at least 1 hour to be effective.
- Displays of resources available at the OWC in the staff room, the library, presented during a staff meeting or in teacher education sections at universities.
- Workshops on topics requested by schools or universities.
- A workshop from the list of topics prepared by the OWC Education Officer.
- Display of resources with the Education Officer on hand to discuss global education with teachers.
- Invite the One World Centre to be part of a special day at your school.
- A group of teachers working together with the Education Officer to develop learning activities with a global perspective using the WA Curriculum Framework.
Global Education is best taught within the Society and Environment Strand of the Western Australian Curriculum Framework. English, Maths and Music and Arts can also be taught with a global education focus. The Education Officer can assist teachers with ideas about how to do this.
Just because you live in a rural area or the country it doesn’t mean you have to miss out. Our Education Officer can visit you to provide PD for the staff to your school.
Contact the Education Officer for bookings and information about professional development.
