Global Education Unpacked - Bunbury Workshop

Saturday 10th March, 10am - 3:30pm

 Global Ed

Global education builds the vital skills and knowledge needed for active citizenship in a changing world.  This workshop will give teachers practical ideas they can use to bring a rich global perspective to learning programs and increase their own knowledge of pressing global issues.  Global Education is strongly embedded in the Australian Curriculum with clear links to the Cross Curriculum Priorities of Engagement with Asia, and Sustainability.  It is also found throughout the content of all learning areas.

  • Participate in a wide range of ready--to--use activities which cover content in the new Australian Curriculum for History, English, and the draft document for Geography.
  • Explore teaching strategies related to global education themes: interdependence; social justice and human rights; identity and cultural diversity; peace building and conflict resolution; sustainable futures.
  • Take away a range of unique teaching resource books published by the Commonwealth Government's Global Education Project.
  • Be introduced to the extensive resources available from the One World Centre education library.
  • After lunch, choose from two electives: “Seven billion and counting: Population and sustainability” and “All’s Well? Exploring the world of water”
