Global Education Broadens your Horizons

About Us

The One World Centre aims to provide transformative education that encourages and supports an active and aware global citizenship by:

  • maintaining and developing resources (people, books, electronic media)
  • providing resources for use in schools, in tertiary institutions, by community groups and by individuals
  • by networking with other organisations working towards a just and sustainable world
  • providing leadership and training for the community with a special emphasis on teachers

We aim to reach all sectors of society, supporting those already seeking a just world and issuing realistic challenges to those who do not necessarily recognise that they have a role to play.

The One World Centre is a not for profit, non-government organisation managed by a community based Management Committee.

Currently the Centre employs a Coordinator, Education Officer and Librarian as well as contract staff for particular projects.

A team of volunteers supports the work of the Librarian and Education Officer.

Regular funding for the Centre's work comes from a range of sources including AusAID, Caritas, the Lotteries Commission as well as our own fundraising through donations, fee for service and membership fees. The Centre also receives funding for specific projects from various government, non-government and private sector bodies.

The WA Education Department and the WA Catholic Education Office support us by allowing us to use their courier systems to send library resources to most regional and rural schools including some remote Aboriginal communities.

There are two other Global Education Centres around Australia.
